Corrections Policy
Accuracy is the foundation of an evidence-based publication. When we fall short of that standard, we correct the record promptly, transparently, and without embarrassment. This policy explains how we handle errors and how you can report one.
Our Commitment
The Veterinarian’s Bag is committed to publishing accurate, well-sourced veterinary information. We fact-check our content before publication, but errors can occur — in a citation, a dosage figure, a characterization of a study, or a product detail. When they do, our obligation is to fix them quickly and to be clear about what changed.
Types of Changes
We distinguish between three kinds of post-publication changes:
- Corrections — fixes to factual errors, such as an incorrect study finding, a wrong dosage, or a misattributed claim. Corrections are labeled and dated.
- Clarifications — edits that make accurate content clearer or more complete without changing its meaning. These may be noted where helpful.
- Updates — revisions reflecting new evidence, new regulatory guidance, or changed product formulations. Updates are marked with a revised review date.
How to Report an Error
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please tell us. Email hello@theveterinariansbag.com with the subject line “Correction Request.” To help us act quickly, please include:
- The URL of the article in question
- The specific passage you believe is incorrect
- The correct information, with a source where possible (a citation, a label photo, or a reference)
- Your name and affiliation, if you are comfortable sharing them
We welcome correction requests from readers, veterinary professionals, and the companies we cover alike. A request from a company whose product we reviewed receives the same impartial review as one from any other reader.
How Corrections Are Displayed
Material corrections are noted within the affected article, typically near the top or adjacent to the corrected passage, with the date of the correction and a brief description of what changed. Minor typographical fixes may be made without a note. Our goal is that a reader encountering the article for the first time can understand both the current, correct information and the fact that a correction was made.
Response Time
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days and to resolve straightforward factual matters within five business days. Complex claims that require re-review of primary literature may take longer; when they do, we will tell you so.
Disagreements Versus Errors
Not every disagreement is an error. Reasonable experts can interpret a body of evidence differently, and we may decline to change an article that accurately reflects our editorial judgment and sources. In such cases, we will explain our reasoning. Where a genuine error is identified, however, we correct it regardless of who identified it or how inconvenient it may be.
